Veggielution Workday

I finally made it out to Veggielution today. There were a lot of people there, and everything is so lush now.

I spent too long at the beginning digging with my hands to try to find the water valve at the bottom of a box filled with dirt and mysterious wires emerging from tubes and plunging back into the ground. The valve was not uncovered this morning, despite a new team of people’s trying to find it after my parter and I gave up. We then turned to the irrigation system, putting hosebibs on the pipe risers, then arranging the sprinklers to water the whole new plot in preparation for the groundbreaking on Saturday.

A peacock sat on top of the barn for a long time, pretending he was a rooster.

After the water fun, I set up the potluck. I met Joe there, who just graduated from the Culinary Institute of America (“the other CIA”) in New York, and shares my enthusiasm for a farm dinner in the fall. We’ll start planning that as soon as the groundbreaking is past.
