If you give a moose a muffin

The premise of this blog is that I actually do something every day that relates to local food (always true) that is worth writing about (sometimes a stretch.) Today I rode along the Guadalupe River trail and saw even more elder bushes, and two stands of rose hips (where I didn’t actually remember any roses in the spring.) So that tells me to go back next time with my bike bags and my clippers. And that brings to mind the avocados I gleaned this past week, which I made into guacamole today. And that brings to mind the rest of the vegetables I cooked for friends that came over tonight. But that reminds me of the NY Times story I linked to a few weeks ago, which mainly left me with the feeling that the author thought she was cooler than the reader, and how fun is that?

So I will mention two other things. One is the goat butchery and Belgian bier event I’m going to tomorrow evening, featuring Dave the Butcher, whom I met at Avedano’s. And the other is an urban foraging walk in San Francisco, under the auspices of the Eat Real Festival, which is next weekend. All are still open (the Eat Real Fest itself, very much so, as it’s a free event at Jack London Square.)

See you there!
