Summer of Service
I went to the farm for a bit this morning to help with the visit from the Green Team of Summer of Service. These kids have spent their summer helping out at Our City Forest, cleaning the Guadalupe River, working in the garden at the Roosevelt Community Center, and, of course, giving their time to Veggielution. We harvested lettuce seeds, weeded the acre, and dug the new worm bins.
Coming up this week is planning for our farm dinner in October, with a possible appearance by Jill Richardson, of La Vida Locavore, on her tour for her new book Recipe for America.
We’re harvesting pears tomorrow with Village Harvest! Let me know if you’re interested in joining us. There may be ice cream sandwiches.
