Egg Share

Because I love them so much, I’m reposting this from TLC Ranch.

Our trusty farm truck, a 1995 Ford F250 diesel with about 184k miles on it has taken too much abuse both on the farm and hauling heavy animal loads to the slaughterhouse. It has become a black hole for money, needing constant repairs to keep going. We have finally decided we need to replace it with a newer, used truck. Secondly, we are renting a house in Aromas that doubles as our farm warehouse/cold storage. Our new landlord, Fannie Mae, has decided to put the house on the market and is trying to get rid of us even though we are perfect renters and have taken good care of the place. How about we buy the house instead (we have never owned one before)? It turns out as a farmer, it is very hard to qualify for a mortgage since you don’t have pay stubs. Since we can’t prove our current income for the farm, we are going to try to increase our downpayment instead.

That is where you come in. A couple months ago we sold 30 egg shares to individuals and families that love our eggs. For a limited time only, we are offering 50 more egg shares, priced at $475 a share. This entitles you to 100 dozen eggs at the fabulous price of $4.75 a dozen large eggs, which is a 17.4% savings over the regular farmers market price. You pick up the eggs as often as you like, up to 6 dozen at a time. You have up to 2 years to collect your eggs and you can split the share with another family by including their name on the contract. We keep track of how many dozens you purchase with a punch card at the market. You can pick up from our house in Aromas or from any of the farmers markets we attend. We will also be offering an exclusive farm tour & barbecue in the spring of 2010 for all of our egg share customers. Please email us soon if you are interested. Offer good only until July 4th!

The eggs are so good, and I know the exclusive farm tour and BBQ would be great, too. If you like eggs and live near the Mountain View market, or over the hill in Santa Cruz county, then think seriously about this egg share. You’re helping a great farm and wonderful people, and scoring yourself some excellent eggs.
