Landscape Mode
Today was the meeting of the Landscape Advisory Committee.
The biggest event at the meeting, I thought, was Ron Kanemoto’s motion to recommend that the Board adopt even higher groundwater charges than the 9.5% proposed (for M&I in the North County.) This was in response to the same presentation that the Board saw on Tuesday, and reflected both a desire to pay for identified but not funded needs as well as to use price signals to encourage water conservation.
Several people pointed out that the District is a wholesale water supplier and cannot, by law, adopt a tiered pricing structure, but there was strong sentiment in the committee that higher prices for water are necessary.
