Today I went for my one-day-a-month-in-the-off-season, where docents don’t lead guided walks, but are available to answer questions and keep the seals safe. Since it was a Saturday morning, and I didn’t have to be at the park until 9:30, I stopped at the Westside Santa Cruz Farmers Market on the way.

And there were peaches in May!

And apricots!

I bought some bread from Companion Bakers, who supply bread to the LEF CSA.

There was also sourdough pizza dough, which I bought, despite having to keep it in the car all day.

They look like huge marshmallows, don’t they? The dough was fine when I got home; I’ve frozen it. When I got to the reserve, I saw a deer while I was walking out to the point.

I saw a molting seal right next to the boardwalk.

And it was cold, cold, cold, cold all day!
