I&#8217;ve attended both years it&#8217;s been in existence, but it can be hard for me to find a meaningful connection at a giant event that has hundreds of things going on at the same time, with thousands of people all trying to do them.<\/p>\n<p>So I thought I&#8217;d peruse the schedule in advance, and I was very pleased to see that there is an entire strand devoted to food. Check out the <a href=\"http:\/\/makerfaire.com\/bayarea\/2009\/schedule\/location\/index.csp?mfl=161\">schedule for Homegrown Village<\/a>, which is <a href=\"http:\/\/makezine.com\/makerfaire\/bayarea\/2009\/map\/\">conveniently located<\/a> next to the Diet Coke &#038; Mentos fountains and the rocket launch area.<\/p>\n<p>There are also quite a few food events on the Maker Square stage:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Saturday 11:00 AM &#8211; 12:00 PM  &#8220;Making Marshmallows&#8221; by Karen Solomon<\/li>\n<li>Saturday 1:30 PM &#8211; 2:30 PM  &#8220;Edible Pursuits Trivia&#8221; by Edible San Francisco<\/li>\n<li>Saturday 2:30 PM &#8211; 3:00 PM &#8220;Homemade Chocolate Truffle Making&#8221; by Charles Chocolates<\/li>\n<li>Saturday 3:00 PM &#8211; 4:00 PM &#8220;Break the Rules After Knowing Them: DIY Food and Wine Pairings&#8221; by  Eden Canyon Vineyards <\/li>\n<li>Saturday 4:30 PM &#8211; 5:30 PM &#8220;Preserving Summer In A Jar&#8221; by Alicia Preston<\/li>\n<li>Saturday 5:30 PM &#8211; 6:30 PM &#8220;Affinage: The Art of Aging Cheese&#8221; by Kim Iannotti<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Maybe I&#8217;ll finally get to meet Bonnie Powell!<\/p>\n<p>If that&#8217;s not enough to get you to go, then I&#8217;ll play the trump card:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm1.static.flickr.com\/218\/507431537_f9777309c8_m.jpg\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Giant!
