The day was cooler but still sunny, we had an excellent turnout, and we got almost our entire field planted.<\/p>\n<p>This is what it looked like this morning.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm3.static.flickr.com\/2454\/3645589424_10cae3d2f1_m.jpg\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Beautiful in its way, especially if you&#8217;d been picking up rocks a month ago. First the horses arrived and started discing and plowing the section just behind the new field, in preparation for our sowing cover crops soon.<\/p>\n<p><object width=\"425\" height=\"344\"><param name=\"movie\" value=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/5bZNE-Omj0Y&#038;hl=en&#038;fs=1&#038;rel=0\"><\/param><param name=\"allowFullScreen\" value=\"true\"><\/param><param name=\"allowscriptaccess\" value=\"always\"><\/param><embed src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/5bZNE-Omj0Y&#038;hl=en&#038;fs=1&#038;rel=0\" type=\"application\/x-shockwave-flash\" allowscriptaccess=\"always\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" width=\"425\" height=\"344\"><\/embed><\/object><\/p>\n<p>Then the Aztec dancers performed a blessing on our field and the seeds we were about to plant.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm4.static.flickr.com\/3259\/3644782895_94a9acabf9_m.jpg\"\/><\/p>\n<p>After the distinguished speakers were finished, it was time for the planting!<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm4.static.flickr.com\/3579\/3644783375_f8a5e6d80f_m.jpg\"\/><\/p>\n<p>We planted tomatoes, peppers, potatoes, sweet corn, okra, summer squash, pumpkins, watermelons, cucumbers, lettuce, scallions and carrots.<\/p>\n<p>Huge thanks to Whole Foods market in Campbell, and especially Sal Arciniega, for donating a generous and delicious lunch.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm4.static.flickr.com\/3412\/3645590914_409e1500c2_m.jpg\"\/><\/p>\n<p>And thanks to Cheryl Pritchett and Rosebud for the discing and plowing.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm4.static.flickr.com\/3550\/3645591422_1c4dd1cf76_m.jpg\"\/><\/p>\n<p>And I didn&#8217;t get a photo of him, but huge thanks go to Brian Clampitt from the city of San Jos\u00c3\u00a9 Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services department. He is an event planner <i> extraordinaire<\/i>, and there is no way this groundbreaking would have been as nice or run as well if Brian had not come in like the White Tornado. Kudos to the city staff for getting the equipment set up and taken down so fast.
