{"id":46,"date":"2008-04-25T07:38:23","date_gmt":"2008-04-25T15:38:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/dianafoss.com\/blog\/2008\/04\/leaving-the-initiative\/"},"modified":"2009-05-05T15:24:00","modified_gmt":"2009-05-05T23:24:00","slug":"leaving-the-initiative","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/dianafoss.com\/blog\/2008\/04\/leaving-the-initiative\/","title":{"rendered":"Leaving the Initiative"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Last week, The <i>Fresno Bee<\/i> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fresnobee.com\/263\/story\/539714.html\">reported<\/a> that farm organizations are split over Proposition 98, just one of the eminent-domain-reforming measures on the June 3 ballot. <\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\nAt issue is a single paragraph that would prohibit government from taking private land for the &#8220;consumption of natural resources.&#8221; The language is meant to keep cities from taking water rights.<\/p>\n<p>&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>The [California Farm Bureau Federation] says its farm brethren are misinterpreting the measure.
