Sheep and Weeds

After I told my mom about my upcoming butchering class (this Sunday at Avedano’s in San Francisco) she asked me “Where do you hear about these things? Well, while reading the Craft: blog, I saw this:

You may or may not know that I’m also a knit and crochet designer, so this was too much of a harmonic convergence for me to miss.

August is actually a clothing store, of the type that has a single rack of single examples of precious objects. But it was done up special for the evening.

There was a long table, decorated with bottles of fennel dye that also contained resistors.

The piece displayed was a mammoth hand-felted object, hand-dyed with plant-based dyes.

The menu was written on the wall (click through to read it)

The chef was so cute explaining the menu, how he wanted to feature the weeds that the sheep eat, with the lamb tongue in the salad being the tongue that the lambs eat the weeds with. It was a delicious meal, and we all sat at the long table and passed the food around family-style.

It was an interesting evening.
