Team Kumquat
We’re enjoying a bumper crop of volunteers lately for the San José crew at Village Harvest, so this morning we split up first thing. Five of us went to a house we’ve picked for the past few years, and spent an hour and a half picking kumquats.
The house also has big apple and plum trees, good-sized orange and cherry trees and a small lemon tree. We ended up with about 80 lbs of kumquats, 60 lbs of oranges and 15 lbs of lemons.
I hope we go back for the plums; there were a lot on the tree. We also saw an airship!
You can’t see it too well, but it’s advertising the new movie Up. Clever person, who thought of that!
When we rejoined the rest of the team, they were wrapping up their third house, with oranges and grapefruit. Total for today was 1,800 lbs, very respectable.
